I have been a psychiatric nurse working with acute care adults for more than two decades. I began my career at Whiting Forensic Institute working with patients found 'not guilty by reason of insanity' of various crimes. I spent five years in the community overseeing two residential housing sites for mentally ill adults and working with 'at-risk' patients as part of an ACT Team (Assertive Community Treatment). Following this I worked at Yale Psychiatric Hospital before becoming a head nurse at a state facility. For the past six years I have worked as a visiting nurse seeing psychiatric patients in their homes.
I also publish a blog of my photographic work at www.charlesomeara.weebly.com and a blog for my cartoons and essays at www.crowhoho.weebly.com |
